“Ladies of History” Presents “White Woman of the Genesee”

Redeemer Lutheran Church 2384 East Landis Ave, Vineland

A first-person portrayal by actress and historian, Alisa Dupuy, of a Native American captive, Mary Jemison. In the year 1758, while the French and Indian war was raging in the colonies, a young Scots-Irish child was kidnapped by French soldiers and Shawnee warrior raiding party. This is the story of her long eventful life and legacy living as a wife and mother with the Seneca Indians, the largest of the 6 nations of the Iroquois confederacy. The portrayal is based on historical fact, and Mary Jemison’s memoirs as published in 1824.
