CU Maurice River’s Purple Martin Spectacular
Port Norris, NJ Commercial TownshipWe invite you to witness a natural phenomenon. The staging of purple martins happens each year in August before the birds’ southbound migration. It is speculated that the Wild and Scenic Maurice River hosts one of the largest staging sites of purple martins East of the Mississippi. Each evening at sunset, 100,000s of birds gather, murmur, and dive down into the reeds where they overnight. Join us for this cruise on the federally designated Wild and Scenic Maurice River aboard the Bonanza II. Interpretation of this natural occurrence will be offered by CU Maurice River’s team of naturalists. A selection of desserts, light snacks, and soft drinks will be provided.
