Wild about Cumberland! is a full-day field trip for Cumberland County 4th graders, begun in 2006, which provides a half-day of outdoor exploration at the PSE&G wetland restoration site on Berrytown Road in Port Norris and a half-day of indoor environmental education sessions at the Bayshore Center in Bivalve. At the end of March, eleven local elementary schools will participate over the course of two days, involving 470 students. Wild about Cumberland! emphasizes "sense of place," and environmental education based on local natural resources. The program seeks to build enthusiasm for outdoor exploration and pride in Cumberland County's exemplary natural and cultural history recognized through the National Park Service's Wild and Scenic designation of the Maurice River. Wild about Cumberland! is hosted by CU Maurice River, and sponsored by The National Park Service's Wild and Scenic Rivers Program and PSE&G. Thank you CU Maurice River members for your contributions in support of Wild About Cumberland.
