Raise the River Kayak/Canoe Event

Maurice River Bluffs 1200 Silver Run Road, Millville, NJ, United States

Dust off your kayak or canoe and load them up. It's a Paddle-A-Thon! Four paddles over three days (July 26, 27, and 28) on the Maurice River. Each paddle will be led by CU Maurice River Naturalists and Staff ($25 per person). Pick and choose the leg(s) you want to paddle. On Sunday, July 28th finish off the weekend beachside with a Crab Dinner complete with Farm-to-Table side dishes at the Union Lake Sailing and Tennis Club’s boat house. Dinner tickets cost $55 per person. CU Maurice River is a non-profit that works to protect the Wild and Scenic Maurice River Watershed. Your participation will support our stream conservation and river education work.

CU Maurice River’s Purple Martin Spectacular

Port Norris, NJ Commercial Township, New Jersey, United States

We invite you to witness a natural phenomenon. The staging of purple martins happens each year in August before the birds’ southbound migration. It is speculated that the Wild and Scenic Maurice River hosts one of the largest staging sites of purple martins East of the Mississippi. Each evening at sunset, 100,000s of birds gather, murmur, and dive down into the reeds where they overnight. Join us for this cruise on the federally designated Wild and Scenic Maurice River aboard the Bonanza II. Interpretation of this natural occurrence will be offered by CU Maurice River’s team of naturalists. A selection of desserts, light snacks, and soft drinks will be provided.
